Custom Comb & Hair Brush Development

Modify an existing product or develop a new comb or hair brush from a drawing, reference image, physical sample or new concept.

We help define and verify structural changes such as dimensions, teeth, handles, thickness, components, edge details and sanding feel before mass-production approval.

Choose the Right Development Route

Modify an Existing Product

Choose this route when an existing product is close to your target, but the structure still needs to change.

Typical changes include:

  • dimensions and proportions;
  • tooth shape or spacing;
  • handle geometry;
  • body thickness;
  • edge, chamfer or rounded details;
  • component combinations;
  • sanding refinement and tactile feel.

Develop a New Product

Choose this route when the required structure does not exist in the current range.

Development can start from:

  • a drawing;
  • reference images;
  • a physical sample;
  • an existing product used as reference;
  • or a new concept.

If the product structure already works and you only need branding or packaging, custom development is usually not the right route.

What Can Be Developed?

Development Scope

  1. Dimensions

    Length, width, thickness and overall proportions

  2. Teeth

    Tooth form, spacing, length, root structure, and the manufacturing route: Teeth Slitting or Inlaid-tooth Comb construction

  3. Handle

    Profile, curvature, length and transitions

  4. Body

    Thickness distribution and structural shape

  5. Components

    Cushion, pin or bristle combinations for hair brushes, together with Cushion Assembly Process or Tufting / direct-to-base installation where applicable

  6. Edges & Feel

    Chamfer, rounded edges, sanding refinement and tactile requirements

Comb projects need both tooth geometry and the tooth-manufacturing route defined. Hair-brush projects need the cushion, pins or bristles and installation method defined together. See the comb-teeth guide, cushion-brush guide and manufacturing-process page for the detailed process definitions.

Development Has Structural Boundaries

A requested change needs to work together with the material, product geometry, component relationships and production repeatability.

Changing one part of the product may also affect surrounding thickness, tooth structure, handle transitions, edge treatment or component fit.

A drawing, image or reference sample therefore does not automatically mean the same structure can move directly into mass production unchanged.

Where necessary, the design is adjusted and verified through physical sampling.

How Development Is Verified

  1. Review

    We first identify what must change, what must remain and which requirements need further validation.

  2. Physical Sample

    A sample is used to check the actual structure, dimensions, edge details, sanding feel and relevant component relationships.

  3. Record Changes

    Required modifications are recorded clearly so the next version can be checked against the same requirements.

  4. Approve for Production

    The approved sample, recorded changes and confirmed product requirements become the reference for the next production stage.

What Should You Send?

You do not need a complete engineering file before contacting us.

Provide the information you already have:

  • drawing, reference image or physical sample;
  • the parts that must change;
  • target dimensions;
  • preferred material direction;
  • tooth or component requirements;
  • handle, edge or sanding requirements;
  • any important use conditions that may affect the structure.

The most useful starting point is to make three things clear:

What must stay. What must change. What is still open for development.

Choose the Next Step

The product itself needs to change

If you need new dimensions, teeth, handle geometry, thickness, components or a completely new structure:

The existing product already works

If no structural development is required and you want to continue with an existing style:

Turn the Development Target into an Approved Product

Send your current reference and identify the structural changes you need.

We can begin with a feasibility review and physical sampling path.

Design Rights, Confidentiality & Exclusivity in Custom Development

VANTRE supports two common development paths: modifying an existing product through changes to dimensions, materials, tooth configuration, handle design, structure or finishing, and developing a new product solution from a buyer's requirements. In a standard development project, the customer may define the intended use, dimensions, materials, functions, appearance direction, reference sample or other requirements, while VANTRE develops the specific structural adjustments, product proportions, design details, 3D model and manufacturing solution. For development outputs created by VANTRE, VANTRE retains, to the extent permitted by applicable law and unless otherwise agreed in writing, the design, technical and non-exclusive commercial-use rights that VANTRE is legally entitled to retain, including the right to continue improving the product and developing generalized or derivative versions. Customer trademarks, logos, brand names, packaging, proprietary artwork and customer-owned design materials remain the property of the customer or the relevant rights holder and are not used as brand assets for other customers.

Need an exclusive arrangement? Define it before development. If your new product requires any of the following, please raise the requirement during quotation, sampling or project confirmation: pre-launch confidentiality; no public disclosure before a specified date; design exclusivity; exclusive supply; a design or model buyout; a customer-only structure, appearance or configuration; or restrictions on supplying the same or an agreed scope of similar products to other customers. We can define the applicable scope, duration, territory, channel, fees and other conditions for the project and confirm them in writing. Sampling fees, development fees, 3D modeling charges and other standard development charges do not by themselves constitute an exclusive license, design buyout or transfer of intellectual property.

Product publication. Where no confidentiality, embargo, exclusivity, buyout or customer-only restriction applies, and VANTRE has the relevant right of use under applicable law and the parties' agreement, VANTRE may include the product, or a generalized non-customer-identifying version, in its product range, sample materials or website, and may continue developing derivative versions with different dimensions, materials, structures or configurations. If you plan to seek patent protection for a new product, or need the product to remain non-public before filing or launch, please tell us at the beginning of the project so that publication timing can be handled accordingly.
